Tyson’s Place Animal Rescue Receives Grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization

JAMESTOWN–Tyson’s Place Animal Rescue is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization. The animal rescue is one of 66 animal welfare groups in 30 states to receive a grant to help local senior dogs. Over the past decade, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided nearly $1.5 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.”

Tyson’s Place is a small, volunteer-run organization that assists terminally ill people in finding new families for their pets. Most of the animals they take in are older and require extensive veterinary care.

“This grant will help us give senior dogs—like 9-year-old Emily, a yellow lab mix currently available for adoption—the blood work, dental care, and other medical care they need to be ready for their forever home,” said Jill Bannink-Albrecht of Tyson’s Place. “No one is more grateful or loving than an old dog and we look forward to giving more senior dogs get the second chances they deserve after their owner is no longer able to care for them.”

Veterinary expenses for senior dogs are costly and it requires a lot of time to help dogs heal and adjust to life without their owner. Tyson’s Place depends on volunteers, donations, and grants, to operate.

“Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like Tyson’s Place Animal Rescue make a difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities,” Grey Muzzle’s Executive Director, Lisa Lunghofer, said. “Many senior dogs in West Michigan are enjoying their golden years in loving homes thanks to the wonderful work of Tyson’s Place.”
